Engineering Minds are Creative and Disciplined

Sustainable Infrastructure for Society: Introduction to Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering at NC State from Julie Williams Dixon on Vimeo.

New video from Art Howard, of ARTWORK, in Raleigh. I was Producer/Writer and absolutely was blown away by what’s being studied and developed here on NC State campus, which is practically in my backyard.

A positive story about valuing and supporting strong teachers in North Carolina.

Below is a link to several videos Warren Gentry and I produced for the Kenan Fellows Program.

“At the Kenan Fellows Program, we recognize the key role of strong teachers and the value of math and science in preparing students for the global economy. We offer North Carolina teachers competitive fellowships that provide them with training, research and resources to empower students to succeed in the classroom and beyond.”

This is a program produced for the NC Museum of Art. I wrote it and co-produced along with Art Howard, of ARTWORK. If you are in Raleigh, or visiting Raleigh, or anywhere near Raleigh you should treat yourself to a visit to this beautiful new Museum!

Heal, Feed, Sustain: How Biotechnology Can Help Save the World

I wanted to do something a little out of the ordinary when I got asked to work with Warren Gentry and Associates, and NCABR, to create an educational piece aimed at helping middle schoolers understand potential career paths in Biotechnology. Working with the kids was lots of fun! I produced and wrote this piece, and did a fair amount of the editing as well. Beautifully photographed by Warren Gentry, and field audio by Kenny Conyers.

Warren Gentry & Associates created this moving program in conjunction with the North Carolina Practice Improvement Committee.   I served as Producer, conducted the interviews, strung the storyline together and wrote the script.   I was honored, and humbled, by the people who let us glimpse into their lives, and gained a new respect for folks who work in North Carolina’s Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse.

VIDEO:Duke Chapel 75th Anniversary

written and produced by Julie Williams Dixon

This is a program I produced for Warren Gentry and Associates, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Duke Chapel in Durham, NC. Warren was the DP, and I was the Producer, Writer and did some of the editing, and a small amount of the taping. We shot with both the Sony EX3 and the Canon 5D MII. Kenny Conyers did an excellent job capturing sound, including the majestic performance of  The Messiah. I conducted the interviews, and wrote the off-screen narration.

VIDEO:Revealing the Deep

Produced by ARTWORK in Raleigh, NC.  Art Howard was DP and finishing editor.  I was scriptwriter/co-producer, and was the off-screen narrator.  This film, along with an alternative version  called “Beneath the Blue” have both won Telly Awards.   “Beneath the Blue” is a permanent exhibit at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh. It’s amazing to watch on the big screen!
